I?am?a?witness,?participant,?beneficiary,?and?guardian?of?the?progress?and?development?of?basic?education?and?international?education?in?Wenzhou.?Since?graduating?from?Foreign?Language?Department?of?Wenzhou?Normal?College?(now?renamed?as?Foreign?Language?College?of?Wenzhou?University?)?in?2002,?I?have?been?working in?the?field?of?basic?education?in?Wenzhou.?I?have?worked?in?various?positions,?such?as an?English?teacher?in?Wenzhou?No.?21?Middle?School, staff?of?Wenzhou?Education?Bureau,?and?now?a?vice?principal?at?Wenzhou?Foreign?Language?Senior?High?School?and?Wenzhou?Middle?School?International?Department.?All?these?positions?are?closely related?to?English?teaching?and?international?education. In?2006,?as?one?of?the?first?cohort?teachers?selected?by?the?Education?Bureau,?I?had?the?opportunity?to?pursue?a?Master's?degree?in?"Teaching?and?Learning"?at?the?University?of?Reading?in?the?UK.?In?2020,?I?was?fortunate?to?become?a?member?of?the?first?cohort?of?the?Doctoral?Program?in?Educational?Leadership?at?Wenzhou?Kean?University?(short?for?WKU).
My?deepest?impression?at?WKU?is?its?diversity.?The?campus?environment?is?diversified,?similar?to?a?foreign?university.?The?distinctive?buildings,?such?as?the?General?Education?Hall,?the?CBMP?Builiding,?the?GHK?Building,?the?Student?Activity?Center,?and?the?newest?Kean?Building,?stand?amidst?lush?greenery.?The?campus?presents?a?unique?blend?of?Chinese?layout?and?Western-style?architecture,?providing?a?comfortable?and?pleasant?learning?environment.
The?faculty?at?WKU?is?also?diversified.?WKU?faculty?come?from?more?than?30?countries?worldwide.?They?not?only?possess?first-class?expertise?in?their?respective?fields?but?also?bring?in?different?cultural?experiences.?This?"mini?United?Nations"?faluty?team?at?WKU?broadens?our?global?perspective?and?expands?our?cultural?horizons.?Despite?the?challenges?posed?by?the?pandemic,?Dr.?Noman?and?Dr.?Jahirul,?our?first?two?mentors,?have?made?great?efforts?to?create?an?academic?atmosphere?with?Kean?characteristics.?They?provide?meticulous?feedback?on?our?assignments,?offer?detailed?one-on-one?guidance,?and?spent?lots?of?time instructing?us?on?academic?English?writing?skills.?Through?these?experiences,?my?English?writing?and?research?abilities?have?significantly?improved,?enabling?me?to?complete?assignments?and?tasks?with?high?quality?despite?the?fact?that?I?was?away?from?the?classroom?for?more?than?a?decade.
The?education?at?WKU?are?also?diverse.?The?teaching?methods?employed?by?our?professors?are?rich?and?dynamic,?e.g.,?experiential?teaching,?interactive?teaching,?project-based?teaching,?and?task-driven?teaching,?all?aimed?at?maximizing?students'?learning?outcomes.?The?curriculum?is?colorful?and?innovative,?encompassing?thinkers?and?educators?from?Confucius?to?Socrates,?John?Dewey?to?Tao?Xingzhi,?Rafe?Esquith?to?Wei?Shusheng.?In?class,?we?happily?immerse?ourselves?in?the?collision?of?Chinese?and?Western?cultures?and?the?fusion?of?educational?ideas?and?practices.?Outside?the?classrooms,?professors?encourage?us?to?apply?our?knowledge?into?practice?and?elevate?theory?through?practical?experiences.?In?2021,?along?with?Professor?Noman?and?two?other?classmates,?I?joined?in?a?collaborative?research?project?between?faculty?and?students.?We?visited?several?schools?in?Wenzhou?that?have?made?significant?progress?in?education?in?recent?years,?exploring?their?successful?practices?and?common?characteristics?in?school?management.?Through?the?project,?I?not?only?learned?practical?educational?management?methods?but?also?learned?research?methods?from?my?mentors.
The?student?development?at?WKU?is?also?diversified.?WKU?adheres?to?the?philosophy?of?"finding?different?development?direction?for?different?students."?Every?corner?of?the?campus?is?filled?with?students'?presence.?The?campus?activities?are?diverse,?including?international?conferences,?research?forums,?and?global?youth?model?United?Nations,?providing?each?student?with?a?stage?to?explore?their?potential,?stimulate?their?innovative?abilities,?and?achieve?diverse?development.?WKU?continuously?provides?platforms?for?students.?In?November?2021,?I?had?the?honor?of?speaking?as?a?student?representative?at?the?10th?anniversary?celebration?of?WKU.?In?early?2023,?I?was?appointed?as?the?Vice?Principal?of?Wenzhou?Foreign?Language?Senior?High?School,?responsible?for?the?overall?management?of?Wenzhou?High?School?International?Division.?The?sologan?of?"The?world?starts?from?here"?at?Wenzhou?High?School?International?Department?aligns?perfectly?with?WKU's?"Start?here,?go?anywhere."?Shortly?after?my?taking?office,?Dr.?Noman,?Dr.?Jahirul,?Dr.?Mydia,?and?other?leaders?and?faculty?of?WKU?visited?our?school?and?provided?valuable?advice.?The?leaders?and?faculty?of?WKU have?offered?assistance?in?my?school?development.?This?team-buliding?collaboration?makes?every?WKUer?feel?warm?and?empowered.?In?2023,?Wenzhou?Middle?School?International?Division?achieved?remarkable?results,?with?100%?of?the?graduating?class?being?accepted?into?the?world's?top?100?universities?and?96%?into?the?top?50?universities.?We?also?welcomed?60?new?students,?and?the?admission?scores?reached?a?new?high.
In?the?future,?we?will?continue?to?utilize?the?strong?platform?of?WKU?to?help?the?Wenzhou?High?School?Interational?Division?and?Wenzhou?Foreign?Language?Senior?High?School?continue?to?improve?and?create?a?benchmark?school?for?international?education?for?local?people.
